Liturgy and Music

LITURGICAL CHOIR

The Roncalli Newman LITURGICAL CHOIR is open to anyone who can carry a tune and wishes to add their voice (however unique that might be) to the ranks of those who lead music for worship at Newman. Music ministers gather for an hour on Wednesday evenings (5:00-6:00pm) for practice and self-select the liturgy time they most prefer. Generally, high school students sing at the 5:00 mass on Saturday evenings, stationary members provide leadership at the morning masses (9:00 and 11:15am) and college students sing at the 7:00pm Sunday evening liturgy.

Our ranks swell during the Advent/Lent seasons when we add an extra practice for our Christmas/TRIDUUM choirs (5:30-7:00pm on Wednesdays). Please contact Mary Ellen Haupert at maryellen@charterinternet.com if you have any questions about the music ministry program at Roncalli Newman or would like to join the program.

KidSING

KidSING is a children's choir comprised of grade school children from the parish, primarily from grades 3-6.  The program is designed to educate young music ministers in liturgical music and runs from mid-September through mid-November.  KidSING practices for Fall 2007  are Mondays from 3:30-4:15pm in preparation for the Sunday 9:00am masses on September 23rd, October 21st, and November 18th.  Parents are invited to participate in the SNACK ROTATION (which is listed below).  KidSINGERS are encouraged to participate in our FAMILY 5:00pm Christmas Eve liturgy.
